Foster Parenting

Basic requirements for becoming a Foster Parent:

All Foster Parents must be licensed by the Ohio Department of Human Services.

bullet

At least 21 years of age.

bullet

Must be able to speak, write and read English.

bullet

A single person, or legally married for at least one year.

bullet

Cannot be in the process of getting a divorce.

bullet

Must have a telephone.

bullet

The Caregiver and members of the household must be in good physical, emotional and mental condition.

bullet

Must have adequate income exclusive of Foster Care Payments. (Proof of income and ability to budget.)

bullet

The Caregiver and members of the household must not have been convicted of any sex offense, felony offense, crime against a child, misdemeanor, or crime with drugs.

bullet

The Foster Home must have adequate space for an additional child.

bullet

The Foster parent cannot be an employee of Children Services.
